How our Recycled Line works
We care deeply about our environmental impact at Belinda Robertson which is why we’ve started our cashmere recycling program: Life after Love. While we’re just a small brand, we believe in doing our part to help reduce our industry’s effect on our environment. So how do we do it?
Your favourite jumpers have been beaten by moths. Perhaps you’ve shrunk them. We’d love to take them off your hands. Simply print this form and follow the instructions.
We carefully examine all donate items and formulate a plan. We decide which parts of each item are usable and what we can use them to make.
We clean up our act
All cashmere goes through an extensive cleaning procedure to ensure that it’s in tip top shape all impurities are removed. Good as new. Almost.
Next, we sort through our donations by colour so we can plan our inventory.
We Trim It Down
We remove any buttons, embellishments, and trims. It’s back to basics for these knits.
We flatten it out
We remove any seams allowing us to lay the garments completely flat which ensures accuracy in our next phase.
We sketch it
We chalk out our plan on the flattened garments to make sure our strategy will work.
We cut to the chase
We cut up the garments apart and place the pieces in the proper order in which they will be stitched before our sewing team gets to work.
We put it all back together
Our machinists work quickly and efficiently to create a new item often switching between sewing machines and hand-stitching.
We hand finish
Each item is carefully inspected, examined and hand finished before it is beautifully packaged and ready for gifting.
